Claire Witherspoon was our guest speaker. She shared over 20 years of experience where she took many classes and incorporated the new found skills into her quilts. The following day she held a workshop: "Scrap Therapy".
Our guild makes and donates baby quilts for all babies born at St. Helena Hospital Clearlake. We received a wonderful thank you note from one our recipients. What a wonderful surprise for our members! Claire Witherspoon was our guest speaker. She shared over 20 years of experience where she took many classes and incorporated the new found skills into her quilts. The following day she held a workshop: "Scrap Therapy". Once again, our talented members shared their creative projects and beautiful quilts during Show & Tell.

I attended the workshop on Sunday. What a great time! Claire is a great teacher and we learned lots of great ideas to use those annoying little scraps that continue to haunt our sewing rooms! I swear her pile of scraps she brought were a mountain of delight to sort through. The day was a great chance for beginners to learn about color, value and repitition and those who were "old hands" crafted their use of fabric scraps into a new style of piecing!!! I'd encourage any of our members to get on the class list the next time one is offered!!!! Fun,Fun, Fun!!!!

I'm so disappointed I wasn't able to attend Claire's workshop. Sounds like everyone had wonderful fun. Looking forward to seeing everyone's projects at our next Sew & Tell!!!

Glad you're enjoying the blog Jeanne. The salad must have been good. It was gone by the time I got there. Not sure who made it but you might try and contact Hospitality Chairs Mary Ann Riley or Barbara Dore for the maker's name.

I read where we are playing Quilto for the July meeting! I'd love to see a vote on how many folks really asked for this. Its ok for a special meeting but not a regular one. There must be something more productive than this. Love the meetings and have not missed one since I joined but that may start happening! What has happened to the life of the guild and the fun?

While I can’t speak on behalf of the guild’s decision makers, I do believe they try and do their very best to accommodate the needs of membership. I do know they have been trying very hard to get feedback from members so then can provide what members want and expect from the guild. I agree with you that although Quilto can be a fun activity on occasion there surely are other fun activities and lessons that are sure to satisfy our mutual quilty cravings.

I have a question and am not sure how to get it posted, so I am trying this. My question is regarding Quilt Show and the difference between Commercial Pattern and Kit. I made an embroidered quilt where only the embroidery squares, with preprinted pattern, were provided in a kit. I then purchased separately the quilt piecing and back material. I assembled and quilted the rest by my own design. So is my quilt a Commercial Pattern or a Kit? Thank you in advance for your reply.

Good question Sandy. Quilt Show Chairs Sue Schedler or Linda Morrison will be able to help you. I'll forward your question to them.
