Saturday, September 12, 2015, will be a day many in our quilt guild and local community will surely remember for years to come. An uncontrollable fire exploded with waves of flames destroying everything in its path. The communities of Hidden Valley Lake, Cobb Mountain, and Middletown received the greatest damage. Everyone in our small county has been touched in some way. The number of homes lost is almost beyond comprehension. Although those that lost their lives were few, they are a tremendous lose to their loved ones.
Four members of our guild family lost their homes. In addition two of those members had family who lived close by who also lost homes. Although they lost everything, Kathy Pratt, April Lynch, Glenda McConlogue (plus her daughter and son-in-law), and Donna Hodges (plus her daughter) are safe and staying with relatives or friends in temporary housing. My wish is that they know they are not alone; they have been and will continue to be in the thoughts and caring hands of family, friends and total strangers. The quilting community is amazing. Quilters and quilt guilds near and far (even out of state) are coming forth offering quilts to our members as well as our local community. They are all made with love and will provide comfort and support during this difficult time. I can't express the depth of heartfelt feelings I've experienced seeing the deep affection and concern shared by friends, family and stranger towards those experiencing such devastation and sadness. Humanity at it's best. Connie Cracraft Website Editor September's meeting was wonderful. Members Jane Alameda, Marj Sweeney, and Martha De Leon presented a trunk show sharing many of the quilts they have made and own. We have many great pictures of the trunk show, show and tell, doll quilts and block of the month to share on the blog this month. Grab a cuppa, sit for a spell and enjoy...
