We had special guests joining us at our annual Christmas party, the owners of the Blue Wing restaurant and Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake, Bernie and Lynne Butcher. In May 2024, Bernie had contacted us to make a quilt out of his old silk neckties and we had formed a project team of 12 people to work on the project. Collectively, we had decided on the New York Beauty quilt block pattern; Marj Sweeney created the pattern, templates, and we met once a month for 6 hours since June with Marj's guidance to make the quilt blocks. Marj also did the quilting with silk threads, Lynn Goos and Kris Nelson finalized the quilt layout, Barbara Peebles did the perfect borders, and Lan Ali-Adeeb finished the binding. Lan also made the matching decorative pillow out of the extra 4 quilt blocks. The project was educational, fun, and filled with friendship. The quilt top was made with 100% silk neckties and fabric, cotton batting and backing. Bernie gave a clever name to the quilt: "Ties Died". Bernie, we really appreciate your support to our guild!!! We had lot of good food made by our members for the party and we swore-in our 2025 officers... Another memorable event. Bazaar sales in November.
