Challenge
The chairperson decides what the challenge will be and presents it to the guild. Members then sign up and are given a limited time to finish the project and present to the guild. Usually a prize is given to the winner after the guild members have voted on their favorite one. It's fun and amazing to see how each one is so different.

Mystery Quilt
When quilters sign up for a mystery quilt, they are given the instructions a piece or section at a time. They have no idea what the end project will look like and they don't care.
Usually the requirements list will be given out after the quilter signs up at the quilt guild meeting. At that time, the first set of instructions will be available. Instructions will be given out each month for as many months as it takes to finish the clues.
What the designer does is work out how to present the material for making the quilt top in such a way that the design is hidden until almost the very end.
The reveal will be a meeting that the chairperson designates. See the current Mystery Quilt here.

Round Robin
A Round Robin quilt is made by several people. The owner of the quilt makes the first block or round according to a given set of instructions using their preferred colors and style of fabric. The starting block is then passed to other members of the group to make additions to the quilt following new instructions. After the quilt has gone to each of the members of the group, the quilt top is returned to the owner for completion. Click here to view types of Round Robins.
