This month we celebrated the guild's birthday.  We had a great feast and thank you to all the ladies who shared their yummy food!   Our speaker of the month was Coleen Granger. She came back to us to share her wonderful stories, sense of humor, and amazing art works.  The topic of Coleen's lecture was "Playing with Precuts - It's about a variety of ways to use precut packs."  The Sunday class with Coleen was on "Ninja Star + other Granger's UFO".   Students learned to make Ninja Star using paper piecing technique.

JANUARY 2022 MEETING

We had a great start of the new 2022 year on Saturday, 01/08/2022 meeting.   We are back to the Lakeport Senior Center which seems cozier and nicer with the full kitchen accommodation.  This month , we had a wonderful and inspiring speaker Sandra L. Mollon.  She is a textile artist, instructor, author, and designer.  Her lecture was “Adapting an Image for an Art Quilt” .  The presentation was part trunk show and part power point lecture showing how to choose photos to work from, posterization of images, and finally the nuts and bolts of assembly and quilting.  Below are some of her works.
The skill day with Sandra was on Sunday, January 9, 2022 on the subject “Thread Painting”. Participants were given a choice of images printed on fabric, and using free motion thread play, the image is covered in stitches to make a wonderful thread painted art project suitable for framing or other sewing projects. The class was amazing with great techniques. Everyone had fun and learned a lot.

After over 10 months of Zoom meetings,  we are finally able to meet in person starting in July this year. It was wonderful to see those who showed at our monthly meetings!!!   We also had a Christmas party in December, Saturday 12/11/2021, with a nice feast, gifts exchange and it was a blast.
Our guild member makes and donates baby quilt to all babies born at Adventist Health Hospital in Clearlake. This year, we have been giving out 10-15 baby quilts each month and we received wonderful thank you notes from baby quilt recipients.
