Our two-day Beginner Sewing Class at the Visions Art Gallery in Lakeport was a wonderful success! LLQG volunteers had the pleasure of teaching a group of enthusiastic students, ages 11–16.
One pleasant surprise was discovering that all of the students came with some level of sewing experience. Their enthusiasm and creativity inspired us to adapt our planned projects to better match their skills. Most students completed a pre-cut pillowcase on the first day, and several went on to make a reversible shopping bag and an adorable chicken pincushion on the second day.
The program exceeded our expectations. Students asked for additional sewing sessions, and several parents also expressed interest in taking a class. It was truly rewarding to see such excitement for learning and creating.
A special thank you to our volunteer teachers: Rita Ball, Claire Grieve, Lianna Burger, Theresa Dapiran, Jane Smith, and Lan Ali-Adeeb. Your time, talent, patience, and encouragement made this program possible. Thank you for helping inspire the next generation of sewists!
