Secret Pal Guidelines
Having a Secret Pal is a fun way to remind each other how special we are! This activity is meant to be fun and positive recognition of our care for each other! This activity concludes at the December meeting when your Secret Pal will be revealed!
Participants need to commit for the full year in order for all to have their birth month included. If you sign up and are then unable to complete the year, please attempt to find someone to take your place. Also, let the committee chairman know as they may have someone waiting or be able to find a replacement. Participants who join late in the year need to understand that their birth month may not be included.
Part of the fun of this activity is to see what everyone gets as their "treat", so participants are encouraged to open their presents at the meeting. Each month the committee will check to see who receives gifts.
Special attention to the following:
These guidelines have been set so that everyone in the guild can participate equally, both on the giving and receiving end. All guild members are encouraged to participate. This is a really fun and supportive activity that results in getting to know another fellow quilter.

- Each participant will complete a participant interest form and submit it to the Secret Pal Committee to be matched with another member. Each participant member will get an interest form of their Secret Pal.
- Participants will exchange small, thoughtful item(s) each month at the guild meetings. These items should be wrapped or put in a gift bag with the recipient’s name and should take into consideration the interest indicated on the interest form. These items should be relatively inexpensive and can be new, handmade, recycled, stash fabric, "dollar store" items or other creative ideas.
- Birthdays and holidays are special times and an opportunity to do something extra special for your Secret Pal. Again consider handmade items, recycled or new books, tapes, kits or fabrics. Be creative! Remember...it is the thought that counts!!!
Part of the fun of this activity is to see what everyone gets as their "treat", so participants are encouraged to open their presents at the meeting. Each month the committee will check to see who receives gifts.
Special attention to the following:
- The committee will not be responsible for unclaimed gifts.
- The members that are giving gifts are responsible for the gifts if their Secret Pal is not at the meeting to receive the gift.
- If the Secret Pal recipient is not at the meeting the Secret Pal giver must take the gift back and deliver it at the next meeting. This applies even if the giver sends the gift with another member.
These guidelines have been set so that everyone in the guild can participate equally, both on the giving and receiving end. All guild members are encouraged to participate. This is a really fun and supportive activity that results in getting to know another fellow quilter.
