About our 2009 Opportunity Quilt:   

The design for this years Opportunity Quilt , "Harvest Rhapsody", was modeled after Ricky Tims' Convergence style quilts.  A majority of the sand washed cotton fabrics used were hand dyed by LLQG members, Margaret Haehl, Renee Gannon and Marian Drain.  The center motif of the design reflects the prominent role that the pear and wine industry plays in Lake County.  The appliquéd leaves were traced from fresh picked grape leaves to add a sense of realism and to reflect the feel of  vineyards in the Fall.  Piecing and quilting was done by LLQG member, Marian Drain and the various artistic embellishments, which included thread couching, yarns and beading were completed by LLQG member, Margaret Haehl.

The Drawing date was held Sunday, October 4, 2009.

 The quilt was won by Maria Giovanni of Nice, CA.

After finding out that she won, her response was, "I know you won't believe this but I've NEVER EVER won anything and I just LOVE that quilt. Thank you! Thank you!"
