We start the New Year in January with a real treat. Jill Schumacher, Quiltmaker to the Queen, has been machine quilting since 1997 and has won numerous awards. Jill will provide us with a trunk show and lecture featuring machine quilting.
Our workshop on Sunday will be a Mini Whole Cloth, suitable for a pillow or wall hanging. We will make a feathered wreath or heart and may add some decorative background quilting. Join us and go beyond the basics to learn more elaborate machine quilting designs and how to stitch them. Cost for workshop: $35

Program: Our February program will feature our own special member, Marian Drain. Marian will present a demonstration on Scalloped Borders and everyone will go home with a handout so they can accomplish this border technique.

Our March – Merle Axelrad Serlin will be our featured speaker in March2012. Merle creates landscapes made from thousands of tiny pieces of fabric. Fragments of woven color and texture are carefully arranged, layered, pinned and sewn together. Please visit her website: www.AxelradArt.com for a preview of her beautiful work.

Our April – A real treat for April will be Peggy Martin, who was named 2010 Quilt Teacher of the Year.
Peggy Martin is well known for her foundation piecing, especially for developing an assembly-line style of piecing using strips. Peggy began quilting in 1981, piecing and quilting everything by hand. A few years later, when quicker methods were being discovered, she became hooked on finding faster, easier ways to make quilts. When she began teaching in 1985, she continued to develop more streamlined, fast, fun methods of working. She enjoys expanding on traditional quilts with new variations and color-play. Her favorite quilts are those which are fast, easy to piece, and offer many design possibilities. If you want to learn an easier method of paper piecing, please consider the workshop on Sunday, April 15th, cost will be $40.

June 2012 Marcia Stein will be our featured guest.
Marcia Stein is a San Francisco textile artist whose award-winning work has been shown in a number of juried exhibitions at galleries, museums, and quilt shows throughout the country. Marcia's recent designs combine her interest in photography with her quilt art, and she is currently at work on a series of pieces based on her photographs from Santa Fe, Italy, England, and the South of France.
Our workshop on Sunday, June 10th, “Picture This”. Would you like to make quilts inspired by your own photos, but don't know where to begin? Learn to machine appliqué a small quilt top using your own photo for inspiration. Choose among several methods of stitching a narrow zigzag over raw, fused, and turned-under edges. We'll discuss how to achieve depth, when and how to add design elements, and how to simplify your design without sacrificing its essence. Cost of class: $40

Program: It’s Party Time...
The December meeting is our annual Christmas party!
All General Meetings include Programs. This is usually the central activity of the LLQG General Meeting and may include a educational guest speaker, technique demonstrations, slides, movies, or pot luck buffets. All members are encouraged to attend at no additional cost.
About Workshops/Classes: Sometimes a guest speaker may offer a workshop/class. Workshops are generally offered in the afternoon after a General Meeting or on a different day. There is generally a fee to attend a Workshop and possibly could be limited in attendance. Pre-registration is required for Workshops.
Skills Day: Scheduled the 3rd Saturday of the month and instructed by a member of the guild in some technique or pattern. Cost is $10 deposit which is refundable if you attend. Members are encouraged to share their talents.
